Harry Kent, The Never-Ending Painting.

On my way out of the studio, I snapped this photo of the on-going Harry Kent portrait.  I like it much better than the first post, way-back-when, but than, maybe a week from now it'll be better.  I should probably pack this up and send it to Tasmania before the paint build-up tears it from the stretcher bars!

  1. Gary, I can't keep track of all you do to your paintings! ha ha But I can tell you this one has heart - a depth in the eyes, perhaps a sadness but also a strength - he looks like a person I'd like to meet!

  2. Hi Rhonda,
Welcome back from the sunshine. You're certainly correct about the non-stop work on most of my paintings. I guess there should be a time-lapse camera mounted in my studio to properly and sequentially record the "progress" and I use the term loosely!
At some point, the changes become ever-more subtle and it's even difficult for me to keep track. Which is why paintings should escape out into the world. They need to be out there on their own, without further mothering.
    Oh, well...
Thanks for sharing your vacation photos. Portland is stuck in rain and below-average temps and seeing the sun and sea really helps!
    Have a great weekend!
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  3. It's fantastic, Gary.

I'm overwhemed. Tryly. Speechless (for once).

You would really send it to me?

That's way too generous, Gary. If you were willing to part with it, can i graciously accept the labor for the act of friendship that it is, but at least pay freight and materials?

    Wow, it's a stunner.

  4. Evening Harry,
If you're truly speechless, and actually like it, I'll send it on my dime. Besides, I've got a FedEx business account which should make it relatively reasonable to send.
As much as I'll miss having "you" around the studio, it's time to move on. And the last thing I want to do is keep mucking about until I ruin it!
So, my friend, just let me know where to send it and I'll have it on it's way by Monday.
    Thanks for everything, Harry.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.

  6. Evening Harry,
And it won't be too long a wait! I visited with a FedEx rep today and found out Michele's discount is the way to go and we were both quite pleased with the estimated cost.
I also found out they have special packaging for paintings and their charge to properly pack it is very reasonable, as well.
What a pleasure it will be to avoid the hassle of making our own package. We've done it before and it's not my favorite endeavor.
So, Harry, this will be a snap and as soon as the signing dries, I'll take it to those nice folks at FedEx and it'll be on it's way to Tasmania. Christmas in April! I like the sound of that.
    Sincerely,
    Gary.
